FAQ’s

  • Doulas provide physical, emotional, informational, and advocacy support for birthing people and their families. That might look like hands-on comfort measures during contractions, helping you navigate options, connecting you with community resources, or simply being a steady, listening presence.

Research consistently shows that having a doula can lead to shorter labors, lower rates of medical interventions (like cesareans or epidurals), and higher satisfaction with the overall birth experience. In other words, doulas not only support the process- they help improve outcomes.

You can learn more about our professional scope of practice here, or explore this deep dive from Evidence Based Birth on the impact of doula support.

  • I support births wherever they happen: hospitals, birth centers, or midwife-assisted home births. I honor all birthing preferences and experiences, whether that includes an unmedicated birth, an epidural, or a planned (or unplanned) cesarean.

My service area includes locations within an hour of New Orleans.

  • Yes… absolutely! Getting an epidural doesn’t mean you don’t need support. I can help with position changes, comfort, advocacy, and emotional support to make sure your birth goes as smoothly and empowered as possible.

  • At this time, I don’t accept insurance for doula services. If cost feels like a barrier, please reach out- I’m happy to discuss sliding scale options or connect you with trusted community resources that can help.

  • For birth support: To reserve your spot on my calendar, a non-refundable deposit of 50% is due at the time of contract signing. The remaining balance is due by 38 weeks.

For postpartum care: A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due at the time of signing to reserve your spot.  Payment for services is due at the end of each shift.

Payments can be made through your client portal, and I accept both credit and debit cards. Some families are also able to use HSA or FSA funds to cover doula support- check with your insurance provider to see if this is an option for you.

  • You deserve a whole team of people supporting you- not one person trying to do it all. I can either be your birth doula or your therapist. If you’re interested in both forms of support, I’m happy to take on one role and connect you with trusted, vetted professionals for the other- let’s build your dream team!

  • Because birth can be unpredictable, I limit the number of clients I support so I can be fully present for each one. I typically take on just one client per month- for example, one due in January, one due in February, and so on. This helps me balance the demands of being on-call while making sure I’m available and rested for your birth.

For the most up-to-date availability, check my social media or reach out directly.
