Can you be both my doula and my therapist?

You deserve a whole team of people supporting you- not one person who does it all! I can either be your birth doula or your therapist. If you’re interested in both forms of support, I’m happy to serve in one role and connect you with vetted professionals for the other- let’s build your dream team!

What is your approach to treating postpartum depression?

I utilize aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), which have been proven effective in decreasing symptoms associated with perinatal mental health disorders. Additionally, we’ll work together to create an action plan that includes things like support groups, medication, education, movement, sunlight exposure, and sleep strategies.

How will a doula help me have a better birthing experience?

Doulas provide physical, emotional, informational, and advocacy support to birthing people and their families. Whether it’s comfort measures to cope with contractions, referrals to community resources, or simply a listening ear, doulas show up for the whole person. Learn more about our professional scope of practice here, or check out this deep dive from Evidence Based Birth on the impact of doula support.

Which kinds of births do you support?

I support birth anywhere it happens: hospitals, birthing centers, or midwife-assisted home births. I honor all birthing preferences, including unmedicated births, epidurals, and planned or unplanned cesareans.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently, I accept Cigna and Aetna for psychotherapy services. I do not accept insurance doula services. If cost is a barrier for either type of service, reach out- I’m happy to work out a sliding scale agreement or connect you with trusted community resources.
